Walmart

The stock for this month is Walmart - WMT, at Friday's closing price of $49.42 is a good buy. It has low downside potential and reasonably good upside in many different macroeconomic scenarios. The discounted cash flow valuation is a lot higher between $75-80 but for the market to give such a multiple to WMT, it'll need to assure the street of a long term sustainable growth from international markets pushing up the overall eps growth to the 12-15% range. However, WMT can easily hit $57-60 range even with lower growth while the downside from $49.42 is quite low.

Stock of the month

With the volatile markets in May, I didn't get a chance to research for a new stock for June but some of the stocks I discussed in the past are selling at reasonable to discounted price levels. So, for this month my recommendations:-

* Mastercard - (MA) at $184. It's trading about 10% higher right now but with the current volatility you never know.

* Nasdaq - (NDAQ) at $18.50. Good value at that price.

* Equifax - (EFX) at $26.5.

My next post will be on July 11 since the first sunday of next month is a long weekend.
